WK Series ink is a very high gloss, opaque 2 component screen / pad printing ink for use with the most demanding applications – as a scratch, mechanical and chemical resistant ink. WK series has excellent hiding qualities; upon completion of cure, it is exceptionally chemical resistant ink. Like all Sapphire inks, WK series is Proposition 65 compliant, which is required in the state of California.
Hardeners: WK Series mechanical and chemical resistant ink cures by cross-linking. Add 1000H Hardener at a ratio of one part hardener to two parts ink (2:1) by weight. WK Series ink has a 6/7 hour working pot life.
Thinner: Immediately after adding the hardener the mixture should be thinned to printing viscosity with 10% - 30% Type M or Type MS by weight. Adding thinner will make the ink less viscous and dry slower.
Drying: WK Series mechanical and chemical resistant ink cures by chemical cross-linking. At room temperature, the WK series ink dries in approximately two minutes. Application of hot circulating air will reduce drying time to a few seconds. Complete cross-linking (full cure) of the inks is realized in 6-7 days at room temperatures. Application of heat at lower temperatures will promote acceleration of cross-linking and reduce cure time.
Retarder: For fine prints, add Type MS retarder in proportions not to exceed 50% by weight of thinner. Adding too much retarder may inhibit ink transfer from pad to substrate.
