Answers:

1. I've been running the same ink on the same parts for a long time, and never had adhesion issues. Why is adhesion poor now?

Most likely reasons: - Substrate composition has changed.
- Surface of the part got contaminated.

2. What is the difference between a kilo and a liter of ink?
Kilo (kilogram) is a unit of mass: 1 kilo = 2.205 lbs. Liter is a unit of volume: 1 liter = 33.814 oz.

3. Are ICN inks appropriate for both pad and screen printing?
Yes, the same series can be used for pad or screen simply by changing the thinner.

4. How long does open ink last?
Stored in a cool dry area, it lasts for 2 years.

5. What is the pot life of Sapphire?
Ones mixed with a catalyst (hardener), it is good for 8 - 10 hours. See tech data sheets for details.

6. Are Sapphire inks Prop. 65 compliant?
Yes, Sapphire does not contain heavy metals. Sapphire also is EN-71 and ROHS compliant. And we carry medical grade series: J3 and MB are Class VI certified. See certification.

7. What ink do you recommend for printing on dark surfaces?
We have high density series in 10 colors. Alternatively, try double printing or printing over white.

8. How do I select the right ink?
Refer to the ink application chart or consult an ICN specialist.

9. How can I be sure your ink will stick to my products?
Send us samples for an adhesion test! We provide 24 to 48 hour turnaround and do tests at no charge. A UPS account number is always appreciated.

10. Are custom colors available?
We offer a mixing system and a color-matching service.

11. My ink sticks to the item when first printed, but after a few days, scratches off easily. How do I fix this?
Some plastic and PVC items out gas under the ink after a period of time. These items require a different ink or thinner combination. Send them to ICN for a no charge ink test.

12. Do you have ink for polypropylene?
Yes, our DP line of ink is a specialized series of ink designed for us with polypropylene. Adhesion Promoter can be added to the ink for particularly difficult polypropylene.

13. How do I remove ink from my plastic part?
Our InkAway! misprint remover is designed to remove dried ink from most plastics without leaving a haze.

14. Why has the ink become thick?
If the ink can is left open, the ink will become thicker because of natural thinner evaporation. Make sure the lid is closed tightly. Inks naturally settle out when stored for a period of time. Colors that are not used daily should be stirred in the ink can before dispensing.
