Pads should sit flat on their base, and not on top of each other. Pads should never be left with dried ink on them and should be removed with adhesive tape. Items left in contact with the pad surface for a period of time may dent the pad surface.
3. How do I choose the correct pad shape and hardness (durometer)?
Generally, the pad should be about 20% bigger than the image.
You should always choose:
- The largest pad your machine can handle.
- The hardest pad your machine and part can handle.
- The steepest shape (with the highest angle) appropriate for the part.
For printing a round part a round pad is more appropriate; for rectangular, rectangular. This is not a hard rule but it always reduces the potential for image distortion.
We can make any custom pad. Generally custom pads are required if you have an odd shaped part that is being printed, a specialized application, or a special pad cluster.
