J3 Series ink is a glossy, very quick drying, versatile 1 or 2-component pad printing / screen printing ink. J3's great opacity, abrasion resistance and superior resistance to chemicals such as alcohol, acids and alkali make it a great vinyl and plastic printing ink for industrial applications. Being class VI certified, J3 is also a perfect choice for medical device industry. Like all Sapphire inks, J3 series is Proposition 65 compliant, which is required in the state of California.
Hardeners: J3 Series polystyrene and plastic printing ink cures by air drying and cross-linking (when using hardener). Add 1000H Hardener at a ratio of one part hardener to ten parts inks (10:1) by weight. When catalyzed, J3 Series ink has an 8/9 hour working pot life.
Thinner: Immediately after adding the hardener the mixture should be thinned to printing viscosity with 10% - 30% Type M or Type MS by weight. Adding thinner will make the ink less viscous and dry slower.
Drying: J3 Series pad printing / screen printing ink cures by air drying and chemical cross-linking (when using hardener). It will be ready for overprinting immediately and will be dust dry in 30 seconds at room temperature. Complete cross-linking (full cure) of the inks is realized in 6-8 days at room temperatures. Dust dry and full cure conditions can be significantly accelerated by the application of heat.
Retarder: For fine prints, Type MS retarder in proportions not to exceed 50% by weight of thinner. Adding too much retarder may inhibit ink transfer from pad to substrate.
