We here at Inkcups Now like to share some interesting news about our customers every once and a while. Today we received an email from Wanda, one of our customers that had purchased our PromoJET edible image printer. Here is what she had to say:

“Montgomery Gentry was in town over the weekend and I had ‘ins’ with the caterer. We gave them a tray of cookies with their photos and it was a huge hit. We also made 2 large ones for them to autograph, Montgomery didn’t show his face, but Gentry was gracious enough to take time for a picture and an autograph. A first maybe?”

I would say it was a first! Thanks Wanda for this great story!

Inkjet Printing on Coasters with the PromoJET Solvent Inkjet

Today at Inkcups Now, we printed on coasters with the PromoJET flatbed inkjet.

The interesting thing about these coasters was the texture of them. Two of the coasters had a rough/bumpy surface, and the other two had a smooth glossy finish. Both rough and smooth textures would present a challenge to anyone in the printing industry. The glossy finish of the coaster increases the difficulty of ink adhering to the surface and the rough/bumpy surface is difficult to print an image on without distorting it.

How do we overcome these obstacles? Use the PromoJET solvent inkjet! The PromoJET is able to print on both surfaces simultaneously. The PromoJET’s advanced printing technology allows the user to print on rough/bumpy surfaces without distorting the image. For smooth/glossy objects, the PromoJET ink will adhere to it with no problem at all!

The coasters were printed with two kinds of images, one in black and white, and the other using 4 colors. As you can see each image came out clear and sharp with no blurriness or distortion.

Typically when we write blogs at Inkcups Now, we write about all the different things you can print on with our PromoJET. Our goal here at Inkcups Now is to assist our customers in any way we can to make their job as easy as possible. Keeping this mentality in mind, Inkcups Now offers so much more than just printing on objects. We offer a service in which we can design and build a custom fixture that will attach to the flatbed inkjet and hold any of your parts to increase printing efficiency.

As the picture entails, these are custom made fixtures for electrical socket covers, and socket protectors. The fixtures are designed with the customer in mind and in some cases with the customer’s specifications. The fixtures are optimized to fit as many pieces as possible in order to decrease production time by cutting down the amount of print cycles.

On the side of the fixtures, pins over hang to assist the user in guiding the fixture onto the PromoJET bed, quickly positioning it in the correct place. The PromoJET is an industrial inkjet, so why not print like it is?

Inkcups Now has made many fixtures over the years. Chances are we have made one to meet your specifications already and if we haven’t, we are always up to the challenge.

One of these days we will run out of things to print on…until then, here is yet another thing that the PromoJET solvent inkjet printer can print on.

Tin can covers are great to print on! Tin cans are typically used to hold some sort of gift item or food, so why not make it look exciting! The PromoJET flatbed inkjet printer did most of the work here, all we had to do is go over the tin with a P.P. wipe to increase adhesion. The result is a crisp clear image that turns that tin can into something special!

Check out these awesome footballs!

By using the PromoJet solvent inkjet printer, we were able to print these fantastic images right onto the football.

It was so easy to do! First, we rubbed the football down with alcohol. The football was then heated up with the PromoJET’s built in halogen lamp, because it is built in, the objects require no manual pre-heating, and it improves the adhesion of the ink to the football. The PromoJET did the rest! The images came out crisp and sharp regardless of the bumpy surface texture. All thanks to the PromoJET flatbed printer!

Add a new and exciting look to an otherwise boring object: the notepad! Custom notepad printing is a great way to promote your business or enhance the office setting. Notepad printing is one of the many versatile things that our PromoJET Solvent Inkjet printer can create!

Notepad printing is an easy process that anyone can do! The blank notepads were bunched together tightly in order to avoid overspraying. We used rubber bands to make a flat surface on the side of the pads without creating spaces from inbetween the pages. These printed in just one pass, and came out great!

Standard applications: safety socket covers, stress balls, pens, golf balls, CDs, iPod covers…

These plastic safety socket covers were printed with the PromoJET solvent inkjet. The flatbed inkjet’s tooling table accommodates between 50-60 of these covers; printing the whole table takes under 10 minutes.

With the solvent inkjet’s software, you can easily work with photographs and promotional logos. In this case, Gregg cropped the graphics into circular shapes. Gregg used heat gun for superior adhesion, and the prints successfully passed both the scratch and clear tape tests. Read more

Check out these nice looking custom guitar picks! Derek and Gregg were asked print these logos as samples to see how well the PromoJET solvent inkjet would do. They didn’t need to use a fixture but instead just placed the picks on the flatbed. Before printing, the picks were pre-treated with an alcohol wipe and heat to make sure the ink would stick to the plastic material.

Look at these wicked good popcorn bags! Derek and Gregg of the ICN PromoJET Squad made these samples for a customer interested in the inkjet printer. Derek designed the “wicked” graphics; Gregg ran the tests.

To ensure adhesion to the waxed paper, Gregg used a heat gun - for just a quick moment so that the paper was not damaged. With the size of PromoJET’s tooling table, up to four bags can be printed at a time. Read more

The PromoJET created another masterpiece!

The PromoJet solvent inkjet printed a transparent-looking set of colors that gave the piece on the left a stained-glass look. Difficult to capture in a picture, the stained glass mimicked the quality atop a regular church pew. It’s just unbelievable that the PromoJET inkjet can print so many different designs on so many different surfaces!
