Inkcups Now has used one of its newest machines, the Mimaki UJF-3042, to print on all sorts of objects and promotional items. Recently the Mimaki printer was used to print on a sliding puzzle game. A sliding puzzle game typically has a grid of 9 squares in which one is missing. The user must slide one piece at a time to the correct position to reveal an image.

A sliding puzzle game is great for the promotional products industry. Giving away a free puzzle will attract attention because it is something different, something unique. Puzzles are better than pens or business cards because they require the user to apply thought and strategy consciously opposed to other promotional products that require no thought at all. For example: think of someone completing a puzzle only to realize that they have been staring directly at your company logo for over 20 minutes. Now that’s exposure!

There are almost endless images and ideas that can be printed directly onto these sliding puzzle games. The Mimaki UJF-3042 is able to apply an undercoat of white ink to make the other colors really stand out. At the same time, another layer of ink is printed on top of the white, with Mimaki’s staggered print-head. At an outstanding resolution, there are few printers on the market that can match the Mimaki UJF-3042’s quality of print.

The Mimaki UJF-3042 features:
• Resolution of 600dpi X 720dpi, 1,200dpi X 1,400dpi
• Staggered print arrangement for simultaneous white and color printing
• UV LED curable ink 6 colors (C, M, Y, K), White and Clear
• Automatic platform height adjust with laser height detection
• Accepts items up to 1.95″ (50mm) thick
• A print area of 11.81″ x 16.53″

Printer used in this project:
Type: Inkjet Printer
Brand: Mimaki
Model: UJF-3042
Standard applications: promotional items, pens, stress balls, other metal and plastic parts…

Inkjet Printed Granite Backsplash

Inkjet Printed Granite Backsplash (Click to expand)

Inkcups Now is expanding: from the Promotional Products Industry - to “Home Improvement”! Who says you can’t design and print your own granite backsplash? When you run out of granite you grab a fine piece of styrene sheet and put the Mimiaki Inkjet printer to work…

If it wasn’t for the thick white granite edge it would be almost impossible to tell which part was printed on. But yes, the vertical piece is the imprinted styrene sheet.

Paul is in the process of renovating his loft, including the countertops.  By taking a picture of the granite he was able transfer it to the Mimaki UJF-605Cll Inkjet System, digitally reproduce the image and print it to the styrene sheet.

Inkjet printed basketball backboard (click to enlarge!)

This crystal clear imprint on this piece of glass (small version of a basketball backboard) was created using the Mimaki UJF-605CII Flatbed Inkjet Printer.

This inkjet printed glass was done in two parts; printing the colored logo first, then overprinting with white in order to make the artwork more opaque. We also printed the solid white stripe as an example of how the lines would look.

Since the impact of the basketball would eventually wear out an imprint we decided to print on the back on the board were the glass gives the impression that the print is on the front.

Before printing, Paul our Mimaki expert, started off by wiping the glass backboard down with our Glass Activator (Specially developed in our ICN Laboratory…) to get extra adhesion to the glass.

Imprinted Leather Padfolio

Imprinted Leather Padfolio

This kind of imprinted leather padfolio and notebook make a perfect corporate gift for your employees.  And the Mimaki UJF 605C11 inkjet printer is an excellent printer for this purpose as it has the capability of printing on dark surfaces.

Believe it or not but one of our salesmen was walking into a meeting with a client who saw this padfolio - and they loved it! They were so impressed that they are now asking for samples of their own.

The Mimaki’s printing table is 19.5×23.5 inches big and can hold 4 padfolios at once. This makes it a much more flexible and useful printer than any standard industrial ink jet printer on the market.

The artwork exhibits excellent quality and doesn’t rub off the leather material.

It didn’t take Paul a long time to get this padfolio and notepad done. First he searched online for the right images which he then imported to the Mimaki software. Within minutes he was was ready to test-print followed by the real imprint of these leather binders.

These really nice imprints were done by Paul using our Mimaki UJF 605C11 inkjet printer. The cool leopard pattern will definitely get some attention and the graphics on the custom dog tag is exceptionally clear. The size of the letters put together on the dog tag is only 0.06” high and 0.185” long, but is still very easy to read due to the exceptional quality of the inkjet printer. Click on the picture to see for yourself! Paul used a digibond primer on both of these items for it to stick better to the metal.

It took approximately 5 minutes to print one table which is big enough to hold 80 pieces at a time.

As true Red Sox fans, Derek and Gregg wanted to show their support - for the best baseball team in the world! A great alternative to getting a permanent tattoo…

The Mimaki UJF inkjet works great on different surfaces and textures, such as these shiny metallic ones. To get the best result, Paul used a PP wipe on the covers before printing them. After the images were done, he applied clear coat over the colors to make them shiny. Derek and Gregg are now totally ready for baseball season to start.

This wonderfully decorated ping-pong ball and toilet seat cover was given to one of our customers as a Super Bowl present. He also happens to be the biggest Steelers fan E-V-E-R!

For the toilet seat cover we used the Mimaki UJF 605 II flatbed printer. By using a primer wipe before the cover was printed on, the resolution and graphics came out exceptionally clear. In fact, it is so good that even after a couple of beers, when everything else is blurry, the logo will still be crystal clear.

The Cardinal logo on the ping-pong ball was printed using the PromoJET Solvent flatbed printer. By using a fixture to hold the balls still we can fit up to 50 at a time. Perfect for Beer-Pong! Read more

These Blackberry keypads were printed using the Mimaki UV ink jet. We made samples in various colors for the customer to choose the ones they like better. Keys were printed altogether; they are in English and Thai (hieroglyphs are not a problem for Mimaki ink jet software).
