Promotional stress balls (click to expand!)
We have just concluded successful tests of a new ink product – Opal P series inkjet ink for promotional stress balls, pens and cell phone covers, especially those made of polycarbonates, polyurethanes, polystyrenes and other solvent-sensitive, absorbent and outgassing materials. The Opal P (for “pen”) series is available as an alternative to standard Opal series used by the PromoJET industrial inkjet printer.
Printing on promotional stress balls is one of the applications that Opal P is great for. Look at the picture: it was taken 12 days after the stress balls were printed. With many other inks on the market, the image on such material would have faded within a few days. The reason it normally happens is because polyurethane emits gases that dissolve ink; the other process that could have happened is the ink “sinking” into the porous material. But because the Opal P ink has very high level of chemical resistance and thicker consistency than the standard inkjet inks, the print stays in its place, nice and crisp!
A Tip on How To Inkjet Print Larger Image on Curved Surface
The other interesting thing that this picture demonstrates is the way to use the PromoJET inkjet to print a larger size image onto a sphere. We achieved a larger print by decreasing the resolution: the image on the right is 1 ¼” at 1440 dpi, the image on the left is 1.5” at 720 dpi. Read More
